Misty Woodward

I will be visiting Misty Woodward, once again. She is a phenomenal photographer and a fun person with a huge heart. She has opened her home to me and helped me get my business on the right track. She has been a wonderful mentor.
I will be traveling to Chicago and stay the night with her family before we leave in the morning to go to her hometown of Kansas City. I will be assisting her in several photo sessions and picking her brain the entire car ride. I will get to see how she works and take some of my own photos of these lucky families. It will be a great learning experience for me. I can't thank her enough. I'll share some of my photos when I get back.

Homecoming

Hi all! I have finished editing the photos from the homecoming at Selfridge. I still have to compile the files and burn the 100 CDs. I will still need a little more time before they will be ready for distribution.

As I mentioned before my sister Amanda went with me. I had an extra camera so when families were reuniting she took some pretty great photos herself. Here are some of my favorite photos she captured.

This is my sister Cait or Catherine as she likes to be called these days, sorry kid I just can't do it. She was home for a visit while my brother in law is a Marine in Iraq. When she talked about her trip, she said she would be home for 9 days the longest visit since she had moved to Hawaii. It seemed like a long time when we were talking, but as we all know time flies. I drove her to the airport this morning and I've been crying ever since. She cried too and said this was the hardest goodbye. I hated to let her go. I didn't want to stop hugging her. I'm not allowed to drive her there anymore;) Anyway I capture these images on her short stay in Michigan. It was nice to work with an adult for a change. She listened to direction much better than my boys do! I already miss her and can't wait until Christmas!

I want to send a message to the service members and their families, I am still working on compiling all of the photos I took of the homecoming. I have tons of images to go through. I retouch each image myself to be sure it is the best quality I can provide. I'm about 1/2 way through editing the images and then it will take some time for me to burn the cd's. I will keep my blog updated on the progress as I have received a few phone calls regarding the cds. Please do not hesitate to call or email me I just wanted to let you know I have not forgot about you and I am still working on this project. I am as anxious to give you these images as you are to get them. For now I leave you with a few more of my recent favorites.

The homecoming of 100 Heros

I love to be involved in my comunity. When I was asked to photograph the homecoming of 100 Marines, how could I pass? The orginazers of the homecoming event were seeking donations from all over the Metro Detroit area. It was the perfect opportunity to get involved. I donated my time and talent and I will also give each of the service members a cd of the images I captured. I have recently applied to help the chairty www.oplove.org. They are a fantastic organization for service members being deployed. This event was along the lines of Operation Love but, on a much bigger scale; usually I would only be photographing 1 family, not 100. The day was perfect, the anticipation, the excitment and of course the reunion of families. It was such a treat. Here are only a handful of images I have completed.
I must say a big thank you to my sister Amanda, without her, I would have been lost and she captured some pretty great images herself! Thank you sis!
