Foggy Memory

I have already lost all of my Grandparents.
I lost my Grandmother, my mom's mom when I was 11. That was so heartbreaking for me. She was in the hospital having major surgery and the Dr. said if she made it through surgery she had an excellent chance for a full recovery. She made it through the surgery and I remember being so relieved. I couldn't wait to talk to her, to see her, to get a hug... She was my best friend. I spent every night I could with her. My mom would call me at my Grandmother's house and ask me if I wanted to come home because she missed me;) I do remember somethings about her. She would say Son of a Pup, her car was named Betsy, she didn't like driving at night and when she saw how much sugar I put on my Cheerios, she made me switch to Sweet 'n Low. Yuck! She taught me how to play cards. She never let me win, but always let me take a second look if there was a play I missed. I loved her laugh. I hated that she smoked. I loved that she worked at Big Boy (until the jerks told her she was too old and they were looking for a younger staff.) I loved waking up at her house every Thanksgiving morning and watching the parade with her. I could tell she was worried about my uncle because he was joining the Marines. I was thankful when she helped my parents purchase a pool. Oh my gosh, the pool is still missed! I loved that she crocheted and let me stay up and watch the late night news with her. She let me sleep in her bed and told me my husband would hate sleeping in the same bed as me because I kicked her all night. I loved her perfume bottles. She bought me my first jewelry box. I loved how she told me stories. She made me feel like a person and not a child. She never told me to leave the table so the adults could talk. She took me out to lunch each week with all of the ladies. She always had pink gum. As you can see I have many memories of her and I do remember some of her personality, but I can't remember her voice or exactly how she laughed or what she smelled like. I remember I liked all of those things, but almost 20 years have passed and I can't remember. I just know I really miss her because the night of her surgery I received the single worst phone call of my life and no one needed to say anything. When the phone rang, I knew she was gone.
December 26 is/was her birthday. Every year I think of how she wished for a summer birthday until one year my mom through her a surprise party in July! Boy, was she surprised! So it is on days like today, I think of all of the things I can remember about her and I miss her. I am thankful that I do remember her, foggy and all.

Oops!

There is an error on the Christmas cards you are about to receive from me. I was talking with my friends at Croft and Campbell Photography and as soon as they said they made an error on their cards, I knew I did the same thing. I went home and checked (of course after they're in the mail) and yep I made the same error.
The expiration date is May 31, 2009 not 2008.
Man 2009 already! I've got to get use to that. lol

A real life HERO!

ed

Yesterday Jen and Greg from Croft and Campbell Photography drove with me to a homecoming in Saginaw. Now for anyone who does not live in Michigan, the roads were bad and Saginaw is a 2 hour drive on a good day from us. On the way to the homecoming we saw so many cars slide off the road, hit the wall of the expressway, stuck in the snow...you get it. The soldier I photographed was on his fifth, yes you heard me correctly, fifth deployment! They were gone for a year. I am so thankful for people and families like them. Without them we would live in a very different America. I of course cried as I was shooting. Dad's meeting their children for the first time, moms getting hugs from their children for the first time in a year, proud fathers relieved to see their sons walking through the doors knowing their sons were safe for the first time in 12 months. I can't explain the feeling of the room. Here are just a few of my instant favorites. I'm sure I will be posting more.

To the Davis family - Thank you so very much & Merry Christmas!

12 days of Christmas

Now another offer for the 12 days of Christmas. How about 1/2 off the Belly and Baby package. That offer is already a crazy good deal. You receive a maternity session, a newborn session, an 8x10 from each and a collage containing images from both sessions for only $195. This package a la carte would be $525 and now 2 lucky families can get it for only $97.50. Almost too good to be true.

Not expecting? I still have 2 portrait original albums being offered for 1/2 off. The albums are black leather with silver edged pages and 20 images for only $100.

These two offers only good through 10pm December 23, 2008.
Merry Christmas!

12 days of Christmas

Well, I'm sorry I haven't updated the 12 days of Christmas offer on Sunday. Saturday I was shopping ALL day long. I finished almost every bit of shopping on Saturday so as you can imagine it was a marathon. Saturday I photographed the homecoming of another Hero. You will be able to see images shortly. Oh did I mention the homecoming was in Saginaw? Yeah, in the snow, crazy wind and unplowed streets! It was fun and oh so worth it!
So any of you have a last minute Christmas gift to buy you can buy 2 5x7 or 8x10 and receive the third for free. (The prints will not arrive in time for Christmas, however you can give them a frame and tell them you will fill it by the first of the year.) This offer is good through December 23, 2008 at 10pm.

Merry Christmas!

One tough cookie

Sophia is so cute and she really is sweet, however her hands were up in a fighting position almost the entire time I was there. We just couldn't get her to relax her little fists. Check out the first photo she looks like she's ready to take someone on. I guess I can't blame her. There was this really annoying woman taking photos of her and kept moving her after she found a comfortable spot;) I did catch her off guard, in a sneeze, once. Enjoy your sneak peek and your little sweetie!

Compassionate

This boy/girl set of twins were so sweet and compassionate to each other. Hannah couldn't find her hand so her brother, Alex lent her his. The were careful not to hurt each other and even held hands. Oh my goodness, can it get any sweeter? Lets hope for mom and dad sake it keeps up when they both want the same toy!

Happy Anniversary! - 32 years WOW!

Every year for as long as I have been born, we decorate my parent's tree on their anniversary. (Cait, Cam and Jake we missed you.) It's always been a fun tradition. The Christmas spirit is renewed with the grandchildren. It's so exciting to them and they make us laugh. It's still strange that my parents are grandparents. (I know I am the one that originally made them Grandparents, but it's still weird.)

Mom and Dad, thanks for all that you do and have done for us. Thanks for making us the adults we've become. If I could be as kind, patient and creative as mom as I have, my boys will be lucky young men one day. Dad, I hope my children will have the work ethic and fun loving nature you've shown throught your life. Love you and Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Happy Anniversary!

Celebrating Family

I love the holidays. The spirit, the fun and of course family. It is tough when some of your family is out of state. Believe me I know. It makes it that much better when you all get to be together! This family know what I mean. I hope you enjoyed your visit and of course your photos! Take care ~jamie

Yearbook

Do you remember how important your yearbook photo was to you? I was surprised how much yearbook photos vary from school to school. The background colors, the head size, the amount of space above the head and some schools have no restrictions! I know lots of local photographers won't take yearbook photos because of how many regulations there can be. So a senior has to get their yearbook taken at the schools recommended photographer and then have their fun photos taken somewhere else? That seems silly to me. So I do offer yearbook photos and here are just a few from this year.
